Furniture Assembly in Memphis, TN

A lot of furniture ends up in Memphis homes in a box. People move into Downtown lofts, Midtown duplexes, Cordova apartments and new subdivisions in Bartlett and Germantown, and suddenly there's a bed frame, a dresser, a desk, a bookcase and a crib waiting in the hallway with a bag of mystery bolts. Some of it is simple, but plenty isn't — big wardrobes, storage beds with lift hardware, office chairs, gym equipment and outdoor patio sets can take hours and a second set of hands. Older houses add their own twist: narrow staircases, small doorways and uneven floors that make a tall piece wobble even when it's built right.

We build it the way the manufacturer intended, with the right tools and every fastener in place, so it doesn't rack, squeak or loosen in a month. We check that drawers glide, doors line up and shelves sit level, and we shim pieces on uneven floors so they stand true. Tall dressers and bookcases get anchored to the wall with the anti-tip hardware that comes with them, or better hardware if needed, which matters in any home with kids. When we're done, we break down the boxes and packaging and leave the room ready to use.

What this covers

  • Bed frames, storage beds and bunk beds

  • Desks, office chairs and bookcases
  • Cribs, changing tables and kids' furniture

A note from around here: We assemble furniture everywhere from Downtown and South Main lofts with freight elevators to Midtown bungalows with tight stairs and Cordova apartments where everything arrives the same week as the moving truck.

How a furniture assembly visit usually goes

Unbox and Inventory

We open the boxes, lay out the parts and check them against the instructions so nothing gets missed or forced.

Build in Place

We assemble each piece in the room where it'll live, using the proper tools and tightening every fastener to spec.

Level and Anchor

We shim pieces on uneven older floors, adjust drawers and doors, and anchor tall furniture to the wall.

Clean Up

We break down boxes, bag the packaging and leave the space ready to use, with leftover hardware set aside for you.

Move-in season and college schedules keep this work busy. Families relocating to Germantown or Bartlett for work or schools, students heading to apartments near the University of Memphis, and new hires at the Medical Center and FedEx all bring flat-pack furniture with them. We also help people helping a parent downsize into a smaller place, setting up a new bedroom, a lift chair or simple storage. Downtown buildings usually need the freight elevator booked and sometimes a certificate of insurance before we can come up, so let us know your building's rules and we'll take care of the paperwork in advance. Landlords turning over furnished rentals and short-term rentals around Midtown and Downtown call us too, usually for a handful of beds, nightstands and dining sets that need to be built and set up the same day so the unit is ready for the next guest or tenant.

What shapes the price in Memphis

What furniture assembly costs depends on how many pieces you have and how complicated they are. A simple nightstand or bookshelf goes quickly; a large wardrobe, a storage bed with hydraulic lifts, or a treadmill can take a few hours. Pieces that need wall anchoring or careful leveling on older floors add a bit of time. Buildings with freight elevator booking or limited parking can add time too. Having several pieces built in one visit is the most cost-effective way to do it, and photos or links to the items help us give you an accurate price up front.

Neighbors often ask

Can you put together furniture in an upstairs room with a narrow staircase?

Yes, and that's often the smart way to do it. In older Midtown homes and some East Memphis houses, the stairs and doorways are too tight to carry a fully built wardrobe or bed. We carry the pieces up in the box and assemble them in the room where they'll stay. If something truly won't fit through the door once built, we'll tell you before we start.

Do you anchor dressers and bookcases to the wall?

Yes, and we recommend it for any tall or heavy piece. Most furniture ships with anti-tip straps, and we fasten them into studs or use proper anchors in plaster or drywall. It takes a few minutes and keeps a dresser from tipping onto a climbing child, which is one of the more common household injuries.

What if a part is missing or damaged?

We'll check the parts as we go and let you know right away if something's missing or broken. Often we can work around a small issue with matching hardware, but for a missing panel or a cracked piece, you'll need a replacement from the seller. We'll finish everything else so the rest is ready when it arrives.

Can you assemble gym equipment like a treadmill or a home gym?

Yes. We assemble treadmills, bikes, rowers, benches and multi-station home gyms. Heavy equipment should go where the floor is solid, ideally on the ground floor or a slab, and we'll level it so it runs smoothly. For a treadmill or other machine that needs a dedicated circuit, our licensed electricians can add the outlet so it's ready the day the equipment goes in.

Will you take away the boxes?

We break down all boxes and bag the packaging. Most people put the cardboard out with their recycling, and if you need us to haul it off, just ask and we'll include it in the quote.
